Supplier's Review

VENUE: Le Jardin Rosella

Rating: 2 out of 5

Pros:

We liked the fact that we had two separate gardens for our ceremony and reception in one place. They also have a total of 9 rooms that accommodated all our immediate family. Their parking lot is really big and can hold 100 vehicles and it’s absolutely safe.

Cons:

First, we went to a total of 6 AEs throughout a year of exchanging emails. The initial email I got from them, AE1 replied. Then, AE2 replied onto the next emails. When we went for an ocular visit, AE2 was not there and instead AE3 accommodated us. AE2 again replied to our emails after that. By the month of July, I sent two emails, but didn’t receive any replies from AE2. One day, AE4 called informing that she will handle our account from that time because AE2 resigned. Thanks for not replying immediately. Geesh. The month of August came and I was informed that AE4 will resign and AE5 will be in-charge. September came and I haven’t heard or received any calls from AE5. I emailed them to coordinate with me and that was the only time she replied. In October, I sent four emails and didn’t receive any replies from them. I received a text following up our payment for the event. They had the audacity to be quick in texting me about the payment, but they haven’t replied once from my emails. Suddenly, AE1 called me informing that AE5 resigned (yet again). He was assuring me that he’ll be the one to handle our account until the wedding day. Probably, a week before the wedding, AE1 called me and said that AE6 will assist us on the wedding day because of a personal thing that happened in his family.

Second, we rented all of the three houses with a total of 9 rooms for 3days/2nights. The bride’s family was in the Glass Hall Suites. Que horror! The bathroom in one room was clogged! The heaters in the two rooms were not functioning! Seriously! Yes, we took a bath in freezing water/shower in Tagaytay. The other heater was okay, but that was the room with a clogged sink. So, how can we use it? We called the person in-charge of the Glass Hall Suites and they can’t do anything about it. They know the heaters are not functioning!

Lastly, there was also an issue about the crew meals we got from them. They were really the best in providing client service by not answering our calls! We even called them 20+ times continuously one fine day and amazingly they didn’t answer it! Don’t worry; they will answer other calls if they think it’s a new client.

PHOTOGRAPHER: Randolf Evan Photography

Rating: 3 out of 5

Pros:

His works got featured in Philippine wedding blogs so we know that he’s good and he can deliver properly. They were easy and fun to work with as well.

Cons:

We were browsing the raw photos and we didn’t see a picture of the registration/escort table. I was expecting to see some photos of the details/designs of the reception area aside from Evan’s camera. But there was none. We also don’t have a decent picture with all the secondary sponsors, bridesmaids, groomsmen. Yah know, the one where we’ll have to take some posing.

Then of course, their task is not yet over after the client’s wedding day. We availed of their on-site Photo Slideshow, All high res raw and edited photos, box of 200 5r size prints and a wedding album. We emailed him January 3, 2015 but didn’t receive a reply. We were just asking when we can get the edited photos. We understand that they are busy people and they probably have past clients to finish their photos as well and upcoming/present clients, however, it’s a good etiquette as the supplier to let your client know when you can deliver the services they paid for. January 13, 2015 we emailed him again and there was still no reply. We texted him the day after, and finally he replied that he will send the photos thru dropbox that night. Although, we know that would be impossible for him to finish it right away. He sent a dropbox link last January 29 for the first 100 photos.

VIDEOGRAPHER: Bliss & Berries

Rating: 5 out of 5

Pros:

We wanted to veer away from the usual SDE videos of other couples. So, we thought of mixing an MTV style and a bit of slow reverse concept for the video. We gave them some videos for pegs and we’re so glad that they did it right! They have full of ideas and very creative. Our guests absolutely loved the SDE video!

Cons:

The only con that we can think of is that you really have to go to their office for meetings. That’s not really a problem. Lol.

LIGHT, SOUNDS & BAND EQUIPMENT: JS Mina

Rating: 4 out of 5

Pros:

There was no glitch during the event proper. We didn’t really have to worry about it. We had a request to downgrade the package we got because we only had less than a 100 guests and they accommodated it.

Cons:

Although they accommodated our request to downgrade the package, it took four months before they replied again to us. We even have to text the numbers we can find on their website/emails. The last reply we got from them was July 29 and it stated that they will review our request. We emailed them October 11 and Nov 24 for any updates but we received none. We sent a private message on their fb page last dec.2 and finally somebody replied.

OTD WEDDING COORDINATOR: SMA Weddings & Beyond

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Pros:

SMA is headed by Sheena Añonuevo. She’s really fast in replying. I haven’t had a problem with our communication. From time to time, she asks me how’s our wedding preps. She went to our venue a couple of times to check the place even if it’s in Tagaytay. She was the first to arrive at the venue on the wedding day. I even had to tell her to just come by 8am because she initially said she’d be there at 7am. We had a flip cup game during the reception and I totally forgot to buy cups for it. She was able to provide plastic cups before the game started! The things I listed to be returned to us were also complete.

Cons:

There was a time that some of the girls’ entourage was missing during the pictorial because they said no one was directing them where to go. We didn’t also give a perfect rating because we only found out a couple of days after the wedding that the Parker pen gift for our officiating pastor was inside the returned items box. Then, I suddenly remembered that while we were signing the contract during the ceremony, the MOH handed over the contract with a Parker pen. Now, I’m not sure how it ended there because I placed the pen along with our two other gifts for the pastor inside a white paper bag.

MUSICIANS: The Weaker Vessels

Rating: 5 out of 5

Pros:

The Weaker Vessels are worship leaders in our church so it didn’t come a surprise to us that they did a great job in handling the live music aspects of our wedding. Plus, we chose them because most of our choices of songs were from Hillsong. I want a live violin during the bridal march and they did it perfectly! As far as we remember, they had no mistakes while they sang and played.

Cons:

None

EMCEE: Vet Lauzon

Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Pros:

Our emcee is included in the in-house catering package of Le Jardin Rosella. She entertained us during our initial meeting last April2014 even if she had things to do at the bridal fair. She was also able to give the draft reception program right away. She accommodated the adjustments we want in the program because we anticipated that some guests will leave the venue early. She also gave some suggestions and advices on what will be the outcome if we have this and that or removed/added in the program. She also suggested the Single Flower Game because we don’t want to do the throwing of the bouquet (I had an origami bouquet) and garter thing.

Cons:

During the final meeting with ms.vet and with our coordinator, I felt she was agitated. I’m not sure why, but she didn’t really talked a lot during the meeting. There are other things I want to also review but uhmm.. Basta!

EVENT STYLING: Made By Lai

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Pros:

She’s a crafter which we liked! We gave her all the things/elements we wanted for the reception styling and some for the ceremony. It was already in a pdf file and all she had to do was give some life to it. We’re so glad we chose her because she was able to do the groom’s only request that should not be taken for granted. It’s a nail art string backdrop which he saw on the internet a year before we got engaged. We had a hard time thinking who can make that kind of backdrop. We did the right choice of getting Lai! She also did a good job in making the tablescape we want with very minimal real flowers as requested by the bride.

Cons:

It’s not really a big deal, but we were just surprised that she used the nail art string beforehand in an exhibit she joined. While the string art was not really an original idea from us, we just thought that everything that’s being talked and conceptualized for the wedding should just be between us until the event is over.

CAKE TOPPER: The Bunny Baker

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Pros:

Our cake topper was patterned in the characters drawn by the husband. We’re happy that they were able to replicate the design as close as possible from the drawing! They also followed our request to make the panda’s belly fatter. We communicated with them a few days before Dec19 if they can deliver it to our house before 11am. At first, they can’t assure us because of the bad traffic, but on the day of delivery, the delivery man came earlier than expected! The toppers were able to survive until the night of Dec20!

Cons:

The size they made is too big for an 8x6 cake we agreed upon.

CEREMONY CHAIRS: Botafogo Event Rentals

Rating: 5 out of 5

Pros:

They are easy to deal with and the chairs were a perfect addition to our simple ceremony. They gave me a discounted price when I availed certain number of chairs.

Cons:

At first glance on their facebook page, you would think they’re not operating anymore because they don’t update it regularly. Sometimes it’s the gauge of clients for prospect suppliers.

BRIDE'S GOWN: Von Lazaro

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Pros:

I really loved my gown! The fit was okay and communication with von was hassle-free.

Cons:

It was the second to the last fitting when I went to his shop. My appointment was 3pm and surprisingly, we waited for an hour before they let me go up to his room. They should have informed me beforehand that there’s a client (I’m not sure if the client was late or something) because we arrived before 3pm. I fitted the gown and they had to adjust the sleeves and the length of the dress. So, I was expecting that it will be done for the next/last fitting. The final fitting day came and everything fits perfectly until I saw that there were still some pins at the bottom of the dress. They haven’t trimmed it yet and I had to wait for some more minutes. I just thought it will be done already for pickup because I remember Von instructing his staff to make the length of the dress shorter during the 2nd to the last fitting.

BRIDE'S HMUA: Kris Bacani

Rating: 4 out of 5

Pros:

She’s the only makeup artist who was able to follow the simple look that I wanted. She knows what she’s doing and my makeup stayed even when I got sweaty.

Cons:

Around two weeks before the wedding, I emailed her regarding the call time, which she replied just 4days after and stating that she won’t be able to stay for the retouch till reception as she needs to go back to Manila asap for an important family event. I got totally disappointed, but just emailed her that it was okay and she should just deduct the cost for retouch. That was the reason why I didn’t have a second look during the reception.

GROOM'S SUIT: Ziggy Savella

Rating: 5 out of 5

Pros:

He’s very professional! He made a sketch for the groom on-the-spot in his laptop. He knows what’s best for his client. He will update you if he’s going to be late at the meeting or if there’s a problem with the suit. He also delivered the necktie personally in our house! He treated us well during the fittings. We all know that there are some suppliers who you feel you’re not important to them just because you’re not famous or doesn’t look rich(lol). Ziggy is not like that!

Cons:

None

ORIGAMI BOUQUET AND BOUTONNIERES: Eloise Daniot of Dandelion Events Styling

Rating: 5 out of 5

Pros:

We chanced upon the origami bouquet of Dandelion Events Styling in a wedding magazine. Eloise replied and she was very accommodating to my requests. She asks for my inputs and tells me her suggestions, although I left all the decision making to her. Her work wouldn’t be featured in a wedding magazine if she’s not great in it, right? She went to Manila to deliver all the bouquets and boutonnieres and we really loved it! She even made two boutonnieres for the groom because I told her that he’s a web designer and he’s really picky with the “creative” things on our wedding. All of our emails and transactions were hassle free even if she’s residing in Cebu.

Cons:

None

PHOTO BOOTH: Flipbook by Flip Productions

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Pros:

We wanted to veer away from the usual photo booth so we got flipbook that our guests can enjoy. Our communication with them was smooth. We initially inquired for their 2-hour package, but they gave us their promo of 4 hours which was quite a steal! They also didn’t forget to use the cover design we made.

Cons:

The pics on the flipbook were not that clear anymore during the last printings.

VIDEO BOOTH:SlowMoo.tv

Rating: 5 out of 5

Pros:

We added a video booth for our guests and good thing we made the right choice in choosing Slowmoo. The output of the video was really cool!

Cons:

None

INVITATION PRINTING: Pop Specialist

Rating: 5 out of 5

Pros:

The owner, Hazel, is really nice to talk to. I asked their services for Here Comes The Bride Sign at first and she delivered it to my office because the board might get damaged when shipped. She also offered their invitation printing and we found her rates very reasonable. We really liked the paper used in the invites and she also changed the color of the envelopes based on our request.

Cons:

None

PROGRAM FAN AND POSTCARD PRINTING: Sure Prints

Rating: 5 out of 5

Pros:

The owner, Krystle, did a great job, especially in printing our wedding program fan. The corners of our fan were rounded and she punched all the 90pcs by herself. We also loved the outcome of the postcards and she was kind enough to assure us regarding our concern for the glossy paper.

Cons:

None

CUSTOMIZED ROUND STICKERS PRINTING: The Candy Shop

Rating: 5 out of 5

Pros:

They said they’ll be able to deliver the stickers in two weeks, but we received it earlier than expected!

Cons:

None

PRINCIPAL SPONSORS GIFTS: Kalookies

Rating: 5 out of 5

Pros:

Transaction was very easy. Of course the cookies were superb! We also chose Kalookies because their packaging blends perfectly with our wedding theme.

Cons:

CUSTOMIZED NOTEBOOKS PRINTING FOR ENTOURAGE: Paper Popsicle

Rating: 5 out of 5

Pros:

The notebooks arrived within five days after we deposited the payment. It was pretty fast!

Cons:

PANDA AND PENGUIN PLUSH TOYS: Popjunklove

Rating: 5 out of 5

Pros:

They did a great job in replicating the drawing of the panda and penguin’s character! They followed our request properly in making the panda chubbier.

Cons:

None
